I. Introduction and Main Uses of Food-Grade Greaseproof Paper
Grease-proof baking paper/release paper is available in single-sided and double-sided varieties, with common basis weights ranging from 38–120 gsm. It is mandated for food contact use in the EU market and must be free of harmful migrating substances.

Problems During Cutting:

Grease-proof paper differs from ordinary copy paper and carbonless paper: it has a silicone coating, a low coefficient of friction, is highly prone to static electricity, and thinner sheets have poor stiffness; cutting is significantly more difficult than with ordinary paper.

1. Rough edges, fraying, and uneven cuts (most common complaint)

Solution: Use high-precision carbide circular blades and sharpen them regularly; precisely control the minute gap between the upper and lower blades.

2. Silicone layer transfer and coating scratches (fatal defects in food-grade paper)
Scratches appear on the paper surface, and localized silicone oil peeling occurs. Food markets reject these products-silicone oil migration can directly contact food.

Guide roller surfaces are too hard, resulting in excessive friction and high-speed pulling that scratches the silicone coating.

Solution: Coat key guide rollers with rubber and use soft rubber rollers.

3. Paper deviation, lateral drift, and uneven ends
Silicone oil makes the paper surface have an extremely low coefficient of friction, making the paper web prone to lateral slippage; Static electricity buildup causes layers to attract and misalign;
Install an AC static eliminator (static electricity is extremely severe when cutting silicone-coated paper); Ensure all guide rollers are perfectly parallel to avoid one-sided force.
